Harm Reduction Works
It helps people who use drugs reduce risks
It help reduce the risks and harms to the wider community.
But abstinence-only approaches are gaining ground with: the widespread use of drug testing which finds its way in schools, colleges, workplaces, homes and roadside tests; with the global roll out of Drug Abstinence Courts; and with the growing commitment to full-recovery treatment.
Harm reduction is under threat here in New Zealand with the roll out of drug testing across employers, the drug testing of people on benifits, roadside drug testing, and of course the two recently established Drug Abstinence Courts.
