Have we lost the war on drugs? Heroin, cocaine and cannabis now cheaper and purer globally than ‘at any time in last 20 years’

Illegal drugs are now purer and cheaper to buy globally than they have been at any time in the last 20 years, a new report has warned.

Julian Buchanan‘s insight:

We war on drugs was a terrible propaganda act, hugely expensive and so damaging to individuals, families, communities and countries. Yes it has failed and left a terrible legacy.

 

Using a drug, like having a coffee, a cigarette or a glass of wine – is not a criminal justice matter, but nor should it be framed as a medical or public health issue. It is primarily a social issue which could result in health issues but will not in the majority of cases.
