First Naloxone Kits Issued to Drug Users Estonia

See on Scoop.itDrugs, Society, Human Rights & Justice

The first Estonian injecting drug users received a supply of naloxone, a standard part of emergency medics’ kits that can be used as an antidote for opiate overdoses.

Julian Buchanan‘s insight:

Wish we could have this in New Zealand … we don’t have much heroin in the country but we have plenty of methadone and other pharmaceutical opiate-based medicines that get injected.

This not only results in fatal O/D’s – assisting people with injecting has resulted in a number of prison sentences for manslaughter – often the partner or close friend.

Tragic x 2
